My Top 4 Mental Health Staples

My Life-changing Steps

I don’t talk about my essential oils and my supplements enough. By doing this I feel like I am doing a huge disservice to both my followers, as well as my community.

If you have read my story on my about page, you can see when I was introduced to essential oils and holistic nutrition that my life took a complete change. It is where I truly believe that my story begins.

Being a Registered Holistic Nutritionist I pride myself on quality over quantity. It is something that we learned in school and there are so many different reasons why people need to do this on so many things in their lives.

While I was in school we were introduced to so many different supplements. Being intrigued I had tried so many different supplements from many different brands and nothing came close to the quality of my doTERRA supplements. Overall, how I was feeling was significantly improved, I has more stable moods, and I just, in general, felt better.

I have been asked by so many people that follow me what I do other than medication to help my Mental Health.

  1. Nutrition
  2. Essential oils
  3. Meditation
  4. Supplements

None of these are any more important than the other one.If my day doesn’t include one of these 4, I am completely out of balance. My essential oils help to work on my brain. As well as help with promoting a sense of calm and help with calming my nerves.

The Supplement work in sync with the nutrition, and help with overall health and wellbeing. Sadly with our food is on such a steady decline in their nutrient values, we are lead to supplement. This is why I have chosen doTERRA, for their supreme quality, and how they make me feel. These are what I highly recommend.

Meditation has been proven to help with mindfulness which has been something that has been recommended by my Pysciratist. It helps with concentration, mood stability. It has been shown to help with your overall wellbeing. Which Holistic Nutrition is Focused on you as a whole.

Seems Simple right?

I know before I went to school I would look at the word nutrition and think great, I have to eat grass and starve myself, to make the perception of happiness. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.  But that is also why I do what I do.

I was once there and wanted nothing to do with nutrition. Why was it so hard? I couldn’t be bothered with trying to figure out what I needed. There were so many conflicting articles online that I didn’t know what to believe. They would all say they were evidence-based. But really, how was I suppose to know the difference?

Each one of my programs is 100% customized to your body systems, and your lifestyle. You get to work with me directly, and I help provide the education and information to help keep you going well after your program. Contact me for a Free Consultation

6 Steps For Your Transformational Morning

By | Busy Moms | No Comments

“On the one hand, we all want to be happy. On the other hand, we all know the things that make us happy. But we don’t do those things. Why? Simple. We are too busy. Too busy doing what? Too busy trying to be happy.” —Matthew Kelly

YASSSS! This is so true. For my mornings, I have been getting up earlier these last few weeks, and It has been a huge Transformation. In a previous blog, I talked about creating a routine to help mental health. This blog will tie into that one as well. It takes 20 days to create a new routine in our lives, so this is something that I encourage for everyone.

Wanting to do things to make yourself feel good about yourself. There are simple things that you can do before you even get out of bed that can make a drastic difference in your day and overall life.

Here is what I like to do in my mornings:

  1. Visualisation:
    1. I like to visualize what I want out of my day, where I want to go, and what I would like to accomplish.
  2. Mini Guided Meditation
    1. I have started this new series by Oprah and Deepak about shedding the weight. Which is focused on shedding the weight of your life, not just physical weight.
  3. Do something that makes you feel good.
    1. I love to get up and open my curtains and look outside and capture its beauty.
  4. Affirmations
    1. Get your butt to a mirror, and say I am_______. I am Beautiful, I am healthy, I am determined, I am successful, I am enough. Whatever is suiting for you.
  5. Write it down.
    1. I like to write myself a little note either in a journal, how I feel, what I want in life, at the end I like to write my affirmations down.
  6. Last, Do something else that makes you feel good
    1. I love giving my face a good wash in the morning and getting ready before dealing with the kids and the rest of the morning. But this can be a quick read, a quick exercise, such as doing 15 jumping jacks or a few planks. Do you.

Doing this every morning has truly transformed my life. I feel less stressed for the day, and I feel the ability to take on life’s stressors. I do this for every single one of my clients. Its all about body mind and spirit. If you are ready to take that next step and would like to know more about my programs, book a Free Consultation.

Anxiety in Children- What You can do to Help?

By | Busy Moms, Mental Health | No Comments

Is your child feeling Anxious, Overwhelmed, depressed or have mood imbalances? Do you feel Cut off from living your Life?

A Healthier and Happier life?

You are not alone on this one. There are so many of us parents that are struggling with what to do with our children and their anxiety. I know I felt like that. My son struggles with anxiety and often gets so worked up he shuts down or cries.

Does this sound like your child?

  • Lack of energy, unmotivated, hard time concentrating?
  • Irritable, unrealistic fears, moody, anxious?
  • Avoid social situations, distant?
  • Health issues, digestive issues, weight gain or loss?

So did mine. The statistics show some crazy numbers on how pre-school age children are the leading age getting prescribed anti-depressants? WOW

There is a huge connection with our food. Sadly our food isn’t what it use to be, and is declining in nutrients daily. Our soils are so depleted, our crops are so overproduced and genetically modified which all plays a role in the decrease in nutrient values.

What happens?

This can cause a host of issues in our body. Sadly.

First thing is the number of chemicals in our food. This makes the body unstable, makes our livers work harder than they should be and starts to weaken our digestive system. When our digestive system is lacking, we don’t break down the foods to get the little nutrients that are in the food.

Second, when our bodies are lacking in nutrients from both our food and poor digestive system. Our bodies resort to getting food from somewhere else such as our Bones and Muscles.

Third, when our bodies are lacking in these nutrients our bodies then struggle to make our happy hormones. This can cause a cascade of imbalances.

What can we do?

  • Eat real food
  • Organic when possible
  • Good Source of B-vitamin rich foods
  • Eat your Whole Grains.
  • Self-Care

5 way to Increase Energy after Sleepless Nights

By | Busy Moms, Essential Oils | No Comments

Energy, What we call Crave!

Sleep, it is something that I feel is the base of all health. When we sleep our body goes through a natural Rest and Repair process. During this process our bodies naturally detox. But honestly, how many of us are getting the proper amount of uninterrupted sleep? Rarely! Without this proper amount of sleep, our bodies struggle with getting back to the base to restart the day. Not to mention we are tired AF.

Shout out to my fellow mothers out there. We get the newborn stage where the babies don’t sleep and it feels like we need to sleep for 2 months and we still wouldn’t have enough sleep. Then finally get them to start sleeping through the night, but for the first little while your body still just wakes you up. Its been about 6 months finally starting to adjust and them BAM! They never want to sleep again. Worse then newborn. Then there are the moms that have 2+ children and anytime you get one to sleep the other won’t sleep. ARG.

Grey Hairs… bags under eyes… Coffee… wheres the COFFEE?

When we are in this state our poor body can’t function properly and can lead to an imbalance with hormones, as well as a whole other host of issues. I know struggling with my Mental health I need to get my sleep if not, I am not able to be so mindful towards people. But Always reaching for that coffee can lead to further stress on the body.

So what can we do to increase energy?

  • Maca root: Powder or liquid. Either is ok, the liquid would be absorbed the quickest. This will help balance your hormones, as well as give you an abundance of energy.
  • Essential Oils: Citrus oils and Peppermint EO are amazing for waking up the body and the mind. doTERRA is the oils that I use and trust. Learn More
  • Matcha– condensed powered green tea, this has amazing calming properties to it as well but provide amazing energy. Put in smoothies or drink warm.
  • Yoga- When you are so lack in sleep you need to do something for yourself. You can’t take care of anyone else before yourself. Yoga has amazing benefits to help wake the body up and a great way to start the day.
  • Proper Nutrition- Yes this one is KEY when you are lacking in sleep your body can be in a higher acid state. You need all of those extra nutrients to keep you going. No sugar crashes.

This is something I know all too well. These are just some of the tips that I include in the programs that I design for busy women and moms. If you are struggling and are looking for help, set up a Free Consultation to learn how Holistic Nutrition can help you.

8 Ways to Improve your Digestion at Home

By | Nutrition | No Comments

Bubble, Bubble, Toi, and Trouble.

The struggle is real. Today more and more people are getting prescribed acid reflux medication and is on it for years. This causes major havoc on your digestion system. Resulting in your poor intestines to suffer, causing a backlash of symptoms.

A lot of people still struggle with “acid reflux” symptoms even when they have hardly any acid production. Why is this? When you eat your food your stomach needs to Churn the food to help with the digestion. When you don’t have enough bile and acid in your stomach, it can cause a title wave effect and splash up the esophagus. This results in the same burning feeling.

If you have been on an acid suppressant for more than 1 month, and you don’t have a current ulcer, I recommend speaking with your dr about your options. In the meantime, there are still a lot of things that we can do to help boost your digestion. Even if you haven’t been on an acid suppressant, there are so many things that we do that sabotage our digestion.

Digestion and Your Liver

A lot of people forget about this little guy, that runs the show for most things in our body. It doesn’t just filter all the stuff you put in your body, but it also helps makes the bile for your gallbladder. If you are eating junk food, on a lot of medication, or even drink often, your liver could be bogged down and you may need to look at doing a cleanse… In the future of course. Liver Cleanse is something I highly recommend you work with a professional with.

Do you have one? There are a lot of people that don’t have one. This helps concentrate the bile your liver makes to help with digestion. If you don’t have one, your bile will continuously drip out and you will lack severely in your digestion. If this is you, It is usually recommended to take a bile salt or digestive enzymes with HCl with meals.

What can we do?

  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Warm Lemon Water
  • Hydrated
  • Drink room temp fluids
  • Avoid large quantities at meals
  • Digestive Enzymes
  • Whole foods, Real foods
  • Organic when possible

Feeling a little lost? Already do all that was listed? Overwhelmed? No worries! This is what I do, and this is my passion. If you are needing help putting this together into a plan contact me for a Free Consultation.

The Good, Bad and Ugly- Mental Health and Parenting

By | Busy Moms, Mental Health | No Comments

This Parenting thing is Hard… Right?

Alright, who is ready for some truth bombs on Parenting? I feel that this subject is so taboo, and no one ever wants to talk about it. Fearing the judgment, rude comments and the completely uneducated trolls to come out from under their bridge to say how horrible of a human you are. If you are one of these trolls, I left you a snack, so please kindly return home!

When struggling with Mental Health you often have unrealistic fears on just about everything in life. Like I seriously went through a phase I couldn’t take the kids outside as I was scared a plane was going to fall out of the sky and crush them. Or that a car would come up into the yard flipping through the air (like you see in the movie scenes) and land on my kids. So we played inside… A LOT!

Paired with those crazy fears, you often think about how much you’re screwing up your kid’s life, how bad of a mom and wife you are. Just these thoughts can cause a cascade of anxiety leading to panic attacks. All in a matter of seconds while your sitting in your lounge chair.

What is the hard part?

All of it!

  • The not being able to play with your kids when you want to
  • Struggling to make them that healthy food
  • Taking them out in public
  • Yelling at them for no reason
  • They hearing you argue
  • They seeing you cry
  • Putting them to bed early so you can just go to bed
  • Overwhelmed by their homework
  • The fear of them growing up, getting hurt, moving away…

What to do?

I don’t shelter my kids from everything to do with my mental health. When my children experience or see that I am struggling, I take the opportunity to explain to them about Mental Health (when I am able), and what Mommy is dealing with. I explain that it is ok and that mommy is ok. Sometimes people have health issues that don’t make their brains feel good.

I want my children to know that Mental Health is something that shouldn’t be feared. I still very much love them, and that it doesn’t have anything to do with them. Mental health is on the rise, and there is a lot of places that they will go and be around people with Mental Health. We need to Raise awareness in our children.

They need to know what some of these feelings are, so they can identify them. If they are starting to feel these or if they see them in a friend they will understand. Suicide is on the rise in adolescents, and people are often missing the signs that someone needs help.

Really at this point, when we as parents talk to our kids about, sickness, health, body, race, religion, Mental health needs to be apart of that. There are so many amazing organizations out there that can help talk to you and your children if you don’t know how to explain it.

If you or someone you know is struggling with Mental Health, Please seek the proper help. Whether its your family dr, a counselor, or a Psychiatrist. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist Specialized in helping Women and Children struggling with Mental Health. I offer a Free Consultation. You are not Alone!
